Calathea, or prayer plants, are a tropical houseplant known for their distinctive, patterned leaves. Considered shade plants, calathea are a great indoor houseplant and actually move in response to lack of light, so you'll see a lot of activity coming from these small plants! Choosing a pot: go for pots or planters at least ø16cm
PLANT CARE
Watering
- Water whenever the top 2cm of soil is partially dry, approximately once a week.
Light & Placement
- Avoid direct sunlight, semi-shade spots are ideal.
Humidity
- These calathea prefer some humidity. Increase humidity by grouping the plants together and if leaves start to brown, try misting them with a spray bottle.
Good to know
- Give them a feed with liquid fertilizer once a month in spring and summer.
- Calathea are non-toxic and safe for children or pets.
